With Autumn most definitely happening outside we believe it’s time to embrace a paler skin tone and dump the bronzer. So out with the fake tan and in with subtle highlighting for a truly radiant glow. The key to flawless natural looking skin with a flush of colour is light weight cream products, which blend into to the skin effortlessly. Also a good light reflecting foundation will brighten the skin and banish those post summer blues.
IT BEGINS WITH BASE
Think ‘your skin, but better’ by opting for a light to medium coverage, radiant foundation. We’re now lucky enough to have many radiance enhancing foundations on the market which give luminous skin without having to layer a primer underneath. Ideal for pale skin tones is Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation, £9.99, or for a truly flawless fresh finish to the skin opt for Estée Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup Foundation, £27, available in a wide range of shades. We also love Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation, £27 - it contains pink and blue bioptic pigments which together make skin appear luminous. It also contain Byron, a silver liquid which reflect light from the skin much like a mirror.
HIT THE HIGHLIGHTER
For a natural and healthy looking glow, stick to cream products that you can dab on to the high points of your face and blend with a light hand or a buffing brush. If you have pale skin go for cool toned champagne highlighters and for darker/warmer skin tones opt for a more golden illuminator. We suggest Benefit High Beam Highlighter, £18.50, or MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna, £13.50, which have a pink iridescence perfect for porcelain skin tones. Benefit Moon Beam Highlighter, £18.50, and NARS Illuminator in Orgasm, £22, are ideal for warm/olive complexions and Benefit Sun Beam, £18.50, and Stila All Over Shimmer in Bronze Shimmer, £16, are perfect for darker skin tones. A good all rounder is always MAC Strobe Cream, £12.50, it’s pearly white and blends into all skin tones.
IT’S GOOD TO BLUSH
When choosing a blusher for autumn skin you want to think rosy, just pinched cheeks. MAC Cremeblend Blush in Something Special, £17, is ideal for adding a flush of coral to the cheeks with your fingertips or for a berry flush try Nars Blush in Outlaw, £21.00. Revlon PhotoReady Cream Blush in Coral Reef, £7.99, is one of those magic colours that brings warmth to any skin tone.
Bronzer should be kept to a minimum if you want to enhance pale skin. However light contouring in the hollows of the cheeks can define your face and also give a good contrast against your highlighter. For contouring it’s best to stick to a matte finish; Bourjois Délice de Poudre Bronzing Powder, £6.99, is a perfect low-priced option, thoroughly blended into the skin with a MAC 109 Small Contour Brush, £22.00, or MakeBelieve Beauty Enhance Sunbeam Bronzer and Brush which is included in this month’s She Said Beauty Box!
