Get The Look: Summer Brights

by

Bright lids, and bronzer tend to be the “weapon of choice” for many ladies as the weather warms up. No-fuss wear, with an effortless glow. Make sure to prep your skin with an SPF of at least 30, then follow this tutorial for an easy, summery look!

The finished look

Get The Eyes

The great thing about bright lids is that they are easy to apply – we’ve been seeing a lot of colour blocked eyeshadow on the runways recently (think Chanel Resort 2013, with the lashes-to-brows matte pink).

For this look, I wanted to achieve a Summer bright with a translucent Spring twist, so I chose a vibrant violet with a sheer glow. I chose a pigment for the main lid colour, and applied the eyeshadow first in case, to avoid any fallout.

To get an easy, bright summer eye, prep lids with a translucent or flesh-toned primer, add a bright, shimmery shade over the whole lid, and blend the edges. Add a small flick of black liner to the upper lash line, or choose a colour that compliments your eyeshadow – a sky blue lid with navy liner, for instance. Curl lashes, pull through a swipe of mascara, and you’re good to go!

OPTIONAL: For added depth and dimension, buff a small amount of a darker shade into the crease or outer 1/3 of the lid (try to stick to the same finish), then add a matte highlight to the brow bone. Finally, use your pinky finger to “press” on a small amount of shimmery white or gold eyeshadow to the inner corner, tapping the edges lightly to blend.

Get The Lips & Cheeks

To get the perfect look, all you need is a rosy bronzer – something with either reddish undertones throughout or a strip of pink amongst bronzes and golds. Apply in place of blush (for contour and definition), and then lightly across the nose bridge, forehead, and chin. If it’s matte, you can take it around the perimeter of the face as well, but skip that step if your bronzer has shimmer.

Add a medium-pink gloss to the lips for an easy, effortless finish, and keep it on-hand throughout the day for touch-ups.
