February 14th is coming up yet again, so here is a super-easy pink smokey eye to go with it. Whether you’ll be on your own, with some friends, or you have someone special to share it with, this look is a great choice – it’s cute, simple, and perfect for both a casual dinner or a night out on the town.
Get the eyes
Like all good Valentine’s makeup, these eyes are insanely easy – five minutes, tops, and you can be out the door.
Start with a layer of primer, then pat a satin-finish pink eyeshadow over the entire lid, leaving only the inner corner bare. Then, grab a darker mauve shadow and buff it gently into either your outer 1/3 (if you have monolids) or through your crease (if you have double lids).
Take the same mauve shade along the outer 2/3 of your lower lashline, then add a shimmery gold-pink to the inner corner. (For a little added depth, pop some onto the middle of your lid, too.) Finish with a matte brow hilight, a flick of black liquid liner, and two coats of mascara and/or natural false lashes. (Contrary to popular belief, spider lashes are not a Valentines Day necessity!)
Our Picks: Clinique Eyeshadow Duo in Strawberry Fudge, Lancome Artliner in Black, and Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Toxic or NARS Eyeshadow Trio in Douce France.
Get the skin
This look works great when paired with fresh, dewy skin, so go light on your base products – a bit of medium-sheer foundation and concealer will often look more natural than a “mask” of full-finish foundation.
After finishing your eyes (and cleaning up the undereye with some oil-free makeup remover, if you have fallout), apply dewy, lightweight foundation all over, then conceal only where there’s redness or darkness: blemishes, around the nose, and under the eyes, typically.
Finish with a thin veil of powder if needed.
Our Picks: Make Up For Every Face & Body, Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua, or Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel.
Get the lips and cheeks
To pull this look together, add a matte peachy-pink blush low on the apples of your cheeks, then blend upwards along your cheekbones. For kiss-proof lips, add a lipstain, then touch up with a sheer, non-sticky lipstick throughout the evening.
Our Picks: Benefit Posietint, Clinique Almost Lipstick in Chic Honey, and Clinique Powder Blush in New Clover.
